SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – Severe storms rolled through our area Thursday evening bringing with them some severe thunderstorm watches and warnings.

According to storm reports from the National Weather Service in Paducah, thunderstorm winds blew a metal roof off a large building along U.S. 45 and County Road 620 North in Wayne County.

Thunderstorm wind gust was reported at 45 mph in Carmi, 58 mph in Belle Prairie City, 47 mph in DeSoto and 50 mph in Reynoldsville.

A traffic crash was reported with a tree partially obstructing the roadway on Illinois 37 at Gun Creek in Sesser.

Quarter inch hail was reported in Crossville, Fairfield, Pinckneyville, and Reynoldsville.

One and a quarter inch hail was reported in Woodlawn.

One and a half inch hail was reported in Cypress.

Trees were reported down from thunderstorm winds on Illinois 37 between Cairo and Mounds City.
