ELDORADO –  Ferrell Hospital welcomes board-certified psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Allen to their geriatric psychology program, Senior Transitions. Dr. Allen will be following patients through the Senior Transitions program to determine the most effective medications and/or therapies and coordinate care with the patients’ primary care physicians.

Dr. Allen was born and raised in Norris City, Illinois. Before becoming a physician, he earned an associate degree in networking technology and bachelor’s degree with a dual major in business and management of information systems from Oakland City University in Oakland City, Indiana, and a master’s degree in education from McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois. He had a 10-year career in information technology, including a period of time where he worked in the IT department at Ferrell Hospital just prior to starting his medical education journey.

Dr. Allen began his medical career after earning a master’s degree in biomedical science at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and then completed his medical degree at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
