CARMI – The following information was released by the Carmi Police Department on Friday, March 10, 2023.

Twenty-seven-year-old Jason M. Sigmund of Carmi was arrested at 11:22 p.m. Thursday after officers saw him inside of a vehicle. After stopping the vehicle on Burrell Street, Sigmund was placed under arrest for a felony warrant out of Edwards County and  Misdemeanor Warrant out of White County. Sigmund was taken to the White County Jail. Bail for the Edwards County warrant was set at $1,075 and $5,000 for the White County warrant. He bonded out around 12:46 a.m. after paying 10 percent on each warrant and fees.

Thirty-one-year-old Justin M. Murphy of New Haven was stopped by Carmi Police just after 10 a.m. Thursday on Elm Street and arrested for No Valid Driver’s License. He was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Use of Property and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Murphy’s passenger, 18-year-old Benjamin H.L. Steele of New Haven, was also arrested for Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Use of Property, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition. Both were lodged in the White County Jail awaiting bond being set by a judge.
