JEFFERSON COUNTY – An Opdyke family lost their home Wednesday night when a fire broke out in the 30-foot camper in which they were living.

According to Jefferson Fire, the couple left the camper in the 19,000 block of East Lynchburg Road Wednesday night.  

When they returned just before 11:30 p.m., they saw smoke coming from the camper and flames shooting from the kitchen area.

The Red Cross was called to assist the family that lost everything.

Bluford firefighters provided mutual aid at the scene.
