CREAL SPRINGS – A man was recently arrested by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office after deputies were sent to the Creal Springs Mini Mart for a report of a man causing a disturbance and threatening customers.
The sheriff’s office says just before 7 a.m. on July 8, deputies arrived and discovered that the suspect, Dalton R. Murphy, had attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise and was making threats to an employee and patron.
Patrons described Murphy’s behavior as threatening and alarming and stated there have been prior incidents which have caused similar concern.
Deputies obtained a signed complaint and attempted to locate Murphy who was located outside his home.
While attempting to approach Murphy, deputies were initially impeded as he had a shovel in his hands. He was ordered to put the shovel down and refused instead raising the shovel over his head in the direction of deputies.
After multiple warnings deputies deployed a taser. However, Murphy continued to resist.
After a brief ground struggle, deputies were able to subdue him and he was handcuffed and secured in the rear seat of a patrol vehicle.
Murphy was cited for Disorderly Conduct, Assault, Aggravated Assault, and Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer.
He was taken to and lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
