Just hours after announcing his album ‘The Fall Off’ would be released this February 6th, J. Cole has dropped the first single from the album. Cole also revealed new details about his long-awaited project, confirming it will arrive as a double album, while alluding to the fact that it could be the final release of his career.
Cole uploaded the first single from the project under the title “The Fall-Off… Disc 2 Track 2”. Bringing the autobiographical song to life is a music video from director Ryan Doubiago, and at the beginning of the visual there is a message explaining the concept behind The Fall-Off: “For the past 10 years, this album has been hand crafted with one intention: a personal challenge to myself to create my best work. To do on my last what I was unable to do on my first. I had no way of knowing how much time, focus and energy it would eventually take to achieve this, but despite countless challenges along the way, I knew in my heart I would one day get to the finish line. I owed it first and foremost to myself. And secondly, I owed it to hip hop.” The Fall-Off… Disc 2 Track 2 then ends with a bonus snippet of an unreleased song (presumably from the upcoming album.)
Cole officially announced The Fall-Off last week by releasing a short cinematic teaser-trailer. In the teaser, Cole directs fans to this site where you can currently pre-order The Fall-Off on vinyl. Watch The Fall Off announcement video: HERE.
