MARION – The Harrison Bruce Foundation Tuesday donated $200,000 to Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois so a storage building can be constructed for their equipment and materials at Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois in Marion.

The donation was presented during a Veteran’s Day ceremony at the airport.

Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois takes veterans from our area twice a year to Washington, D.C. to see the memorials honoring their service.

The next honor flight is set for May 18 of next year.

Also at Tuesday’s ceremony, a new memorial sculpture was unveiled called “American Flag Presentation” on the flagpole island in front of the airport.

The Harrison Bruce Foundation made the memorial possible.
