CARBONDALE – A Collinsville man has been arrested following a fight with a gun firing in the 900 block of East Park Street in Carbondale early Saturday morning.

The Carbondale Police Department says when officers arrived at the scene around 2:50 a.m., they learned that there had been a fight in which someone was battered. During the fight, a firearm was discharged. There was a large social gathering in the area. No one was injured as a result of the gunshot.

Officers arrested 24-year-old Jose Rojas-Villa of Collinsville for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, and Battery.

After consulting with the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, Rojas-Villa was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

Carbondale Police continue to investigate.
