CARBONDALE – A Herrin man and a juvenile are facing charges after they and another suspect fled from Carbondale Police on foot following a traffic stop for a traffic violation in the 500 block of East Main Street late Friday night.

According to Carbondale Police, officers recognized one of the fleeing suspects as a 17-year old male known to be wanted on a Jackson County Juvenile Warrant for a weapons offense and an Illinois Department of Corrections parole violation warrant. The juvenile was eventually located in the 300 block of East Walnut Street and was arrested.

A second suspect, 20-year-old Robert R. Martin of Herrin, was located in the 400 block of East Jackson Street and was arrested.

A third suspect was last seen in the 300 block of East Walnut Street. That suspect was not located.

During the course of the investigation, officers recovered two firearms. They charged the 17-year old juvenile with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting a Peace Officer in addition to the two warrants. Officers also charged Martin with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Resisting a Peace Officer and a Saline County Warrant for Aggravated Domestic Battery. Martin and the juvenile male were lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

Carbondale Police continue to investigate.
