CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man is facing a gun charge after Carbondale Police stopped a vehicle for a registration violation in the 700 block of South Wall Street early Sunday morning.

According to Carbondale Police, the driver, 18-year-old Chrishon A. Sawyer of Carbondale, was found to have a suspended driver’s license. Officers arrested Sawyer and subsequently located a firearm in the vehicle.

Three juveniles, ages 15, 16, and 17, were also in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. The juveniles were arrested for curfew violations and released to their guardians.

Sawyer was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Driving While License Suspended.

Sawyer was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

Carbondale Police say their investigation is active and ongoing.
