METROPOLIS – A Metropolis man wanted on two warrants was recently arrested after leading Metropolis Police on a pursuit in the area of East 8th Street.

According to Metropolis Police, on Sunday, Aug. 13, an officer attempted to stop a blue Suzuki dirt bike 47-year-old Larry J. Meyers was driving on East 8th. The officer recognized Meyers as the driver and was aware that Meyers was wanted on two felony warrants. They were for Failure to Appear-Possession of Methamphetamine and Aggravated Battery.

Meyers refused to pull over and a pursuit began. Meyers only made it a few blocks before losing control and dumping the bike. He then fled on foot and a short foot chase ensued. An ambulance was called to have Meyers checked out. He was taken to Massac Memorial Hospital.

While at the hospital, Meyers was found to have a clear plastic baggie hidden in his sock containing Methamphetamine. Meyers was released from the hospital and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Meyers was charged with the two warrants, Attempting to Flee/Elude Police, Driving while License Suspended, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and other traffic offenses.
