METROPOLIS – The following information was released by the Metropolis Police Department on Monday, July 17, 2023.

July 10, 2023
Tish L Anderson, 33, of Metropolis was arrested at 5th and Scott St. Anderson was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Coles County, IL for FTA-Felony Theft. Anderson was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

July 12, 2023
A Metropolis officer stopped a white GMC SUV for a lighting violation on US 45 and Mary’s Ln. A computer check on the driver, Lamar J. Tate, 36, of Paducah revealed that his driver’s license was suspended. Tate was charged with Driving while License Suspended. He was released on bond.

July 14, 2023
Metropolis officers were called to Acee’s for a welfare check on a female inside a vehicle. A computer check showed that she was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued out of McCracken County, KY for FTA-Possession of a Methamphetamine and other charges. A search of the vehicle revealed three glass smoking pipes with drug residue and a pill container with the name scratch off. The container contained Suboxone which is a controlled substance that she did not have a prescription for. Lorie A. Vaughn, 39, of Calvert City, KY, was arrested for the warrant and also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

July 15, 2023
Metropolis officers received a call from the owner of a residence in the 1000 block of Broadway. The caller stated that somebody was trespassing on the property. Upon arrival, officers observed no trespassing signs clearly posted on the property. They also observed broken wood around the rear doorway. Officers located Dustin O. Cohoon, 28, who is homeless, inside the residence. A computer check showed that Cohoon was wanted on warrants. The warrants were issued by Massac County for Possession of Methamphetamine and Theft. A search of Cohoon’s backpack found Methamphetamine. Cohoon was arrested for the warrants and also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Criminal Trespass to Residence. Cohoon was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis sergeant stopped a white Chevrolet Cavalier for Erratic Driving and Failure to Signal Lane Changes (2). A computer check on the driver, Johnathan R. Cunningham, 26, of Paducah, KY, revealed that his driver’s license was suspended. Cunningham was charged and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
