MURPHYSBORO – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Monday afternoon crash that injured two people.

According to the sheriff’s office, the crash happened around 4:50 p.m. on Hickory Ridge Road two miles south of Cox Road near Pomona.

When deputies arrived, they found a white 2014 Honda Accord on the east side of Hickory Ridge Road in a ravine. The car had significant damage from striking a large tree. Deputies found airbags deployed and two people inside injured. They were identified as 21-year-old Eriks M. Mota and 20-year-old George H. Douglas. Mota was the driver of the car and Douglas was his passenger. They were both taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Douglas was later flown to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment.

Mota was issued a citation for Driving While License Suspended.
