MT. VERNON – Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies and Mt. Vernon police officers made multiple meth-related arrests Saturday night, resulting in three McLeansboro men and one Evansville, Indiana man being booked into the Jefferson County Jail.

Booking records show 46-year-old Shawn Smithpeters of McLeansboro and 51-year-old Jamie Vaughn of Evansville were arrested on Class X charges of possession with the intent to deliver between 100 and 400 grams of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of between 100 and 400 grams of meth.

Vaughn was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance in a penal institution and possession of less than five grams of meth.

The two others from McLeansboro who were arrested are 44-year-old Harland Hammond for alleged possession with the intent to deliver between 5 and 15 grams of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as 31-year-old Cody Kinnear for possession of less than 5 grams of meth and felony violation of bail bond.
