CARMI – White County Government will hold a public meeting Tuesday to provide interested parties with an opportunity to give input and feedback on the proposed use(s) of a grant it recently received from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s Energy Transition Community Grant Program.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in Courtroom A at the White County Courthouse in Carmi.
The Energy Transition Community Grant Program is funded by the Energy Transition Fund, created by the 2021 Climate and Equitable Jobs Act.
Through a Phase 1 application process, White County Government has been awarded $1,207,426.00. Energy Transition Community Grants must be used to plan for or address the economic and social impact on the community or region of plant or mine retirement or transition. Phase 2 of the grant requires a stakeholder engagement process. That’s why a public meeting regarding the grant is being held Tuesday.
Interested stakeholders are invited to provide comments either at the public hearing or by prior written statement.
Written comments should be submitted to the White County Clerk’s Office, P.O. Box 339, Carmi, IL 62821.
