WATSEKA, Ill. – Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a Nashville, Illinois man found dead in a gasoline tanker truck in June in the small East Central Illinois town of Buckley.
33-year-old Billy Roof III of Kankakee and 37-year-old Ryan Morrow of Tallula have been indicted by an Iroquois County Grand Jury for concealing the death of a person.
Roof is also charged with receiving or possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful use of account numbers. Morrow is also charged with aiding and abetting in the possession of a stolen vehicle.
The Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office isn’t saying how the two men are connected to the death of Garrett Meyer. His body was found when the gasoline tanker was being emptied.
An autopsy showed Meyer had toxic levels of amphetamines and fentanyl in his system and a blood-alcohol level more than two times the legal limit.
The Iroquois County Sheriff’s office was assisted in the arrested by the U.S. Marshal’s Service and Kankakee Police. Both men remain in the Iroquios County Jail in northeastern Illinois.
