Two Deaths, 13 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Southern Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,860 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, including 27 additional deaths.

According to an IDPH press release, deaths were reported locally in Franklin and Williamson counties as well as 13 new cases of coronavirus.

Local case breakdown:

  • Jackson County: seven
  • Williamson County: five, one death
  • Franklin County: one, one death

The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from April 25-May 1 is 4.1%.

The total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses for Illinois is 11,802,395. A total of 9,393,137 vaccines have been administered so far in Illinois. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 83,239 doses. On Saturday, 44,678 doses were reported administered in Illinois.
