Health Officials Report 142 New COVID-19 Cases in Southern Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – Officials with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 3,328 new COVID-19 cases and 69 additional deaths Thursday. Throughout southern Illinois, health department reports totaled 142 new cases.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,137,559 cases, including 19,444 deaths across the state.

Local case breakdown:

  • Perry County: 29 (21 at correctional facility)
  • Williamson County: 18
  • Jefferson County: 17
  • Massac County: 16
  • Jackson County: 15
  • Saline County: 10
  • Union County: nine
  • Johnson County: eight
  • White County: five
  • Franklin and Alexander counties: four each
  • Hardin County: three
  • Pope County: two
  • Gallatin and Hamilton counties: one each

The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from Jan. 28–Feb. 3 is 4.4%.

A total of 1,629,550 doses of vaccine have been delivered to providers in Illinois, including Chicago. In addition, approximately 496,100 doses total have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities, bringing the total Illinois doses to 2,125,650.

A total of 1,156,453 vaccines have been administered so far statewide, including 178,848 for long-term care facilities. The 7-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 46,709 doses, with 62,318 doses administered Wednesday.
