MCLEANSBORO – On Monday, December 14, Hamilton Memorial Hospital District (HMHD) with the assistance of Wayne White Electric and Peoples National Bank’s Loan Officer, Mark Epperson, secured $580,000 through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant (REDLG) program.
The REDLG program provides zero-interest loans and grants to rural utilities, such as Wayne White Electric, that in turn pass through to local businesses for projects that will retain or create employment opportunities in rural communities. HMHD used the funding to update and replace the existing facility roof that was originally installed in 1998.
“On behalf of our providers, staff, and Board of Directors, we sincerely thank Wayne White Electric and Peoples National Bank for their support in helping us secure funding for the new roof project at Hamilton Memorial Hospital,” HMHD Chief Executive Officer, Victoria Woodrow said. “Updating and repairing our facility allows us to continue to fulfill our mission of providing quality care and modern facilities to the communities we serve.”
“The USDA REDLG program encourages those using funding to help improve life in rural America. Applicants who receive funding through this program were encouraged to consider projects that provide measurable results in helping rural communities build robust and sustainable economies through strategic investments in infrastructure, partnerships, and innovation,” Mary Warren, USDA Business Program Director said.
“On behalf of Wayne White Electric and its Directors, we are pleased to be able to assist Hamilton Memorial Hospital District in securing the funds through the USDA REDLG program. We are honored to support a local area hospital knowing that all of Hamilton County and the surrounding communities will benefit greatly by having a place that can provide urgent and continued healthcare services,” Daryl Donjon, Wayne White Electric President/CEO stated.
