Jackson Reports 87 COVID-19 Cases, Issues Public Health Alert

SPRINGFIELD – State health officials Thursday reported 12,702 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 43 additional deaths.

The total number of cases statewide since the pandemic started now stands at 536,542, including 10,477 deaths. Jackson County, which led the region in cases Thursday, issued a public health alert to encourage action of awareness to stem the rising cases.

  • Jackson County: 87
  • Jefferson County: 38
  • Hamilton County: 32 (since Nov. 11, half linked to a long term care facility)
  • Perry County: 32
  • Saline County: 25
  • Union County: 23
  • Massac County: 20
  • Johnson County: 18
  • White County: 16
  • Gallatin County: eight
  • Alexander County: six
  • Pope and Pulaski counties: five each
  • Hardin County: four

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total tests from Nov. 5–11 is 12.6 percent.
