Three Arrested After Burglary Interrupted by Homeowner

INA – Two Mt. Vernon residents and one Ashley resident were taken into custody Thursday afternoon after Mt. Vernon Police, Ina Police, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in progress on East Kent Road near Ina.

Martha Harbor, a 24 year-old Mt. Vernon resident, was arrested for possession of meth, residential burglary and violation of bail bond. Two others, 33-year-old Jimmy Buck of Mt. Vernonand 35-year-old William Phillips of Ashley, were arrested for residential burglary.

Around 1:29 p.m., law enforcement responded to a burglary that was reportedly interrupted by the homeowner. According to initial reports, the homeowner chased the subjects from the residence to an area of Wessex and Ina Road where the suspects crashed their vehicle.

All are currently in custody at the Jefferson County Justice Center pending further investigation.
