West Frankfort Schools Moving to All Remote Learning Wednesday

WEST FRANKFORT – Students in the Frankfort Community Unit School District #168 will return to all remote learning, starting Wednesday.

District Superintendent Matt Donkin said in a statement the district continued receiving reports Tuesday of some positive testing for COVID-19 from students and staff members. In addition, Donkin said the amount of people who have quarantined as close contacts has grown has made it “nearly impossible” to find enough substitute teachers and staff to keep the district’s current, in-person learning plan.

The all-remote learning plan will work similarly to the first three weeks of the school year and be in place through Nov. 13, according to Donkin. The district will monitor the local health situation and tentatively aim to start in-person learning again Nov. 16.
