Mt. Vernon Closes City Buildings Due to Rise in COVID-19 Cases

MT. VERNON – The City of Mt. Vernon announced that all city buildings will close to the public, beginning Monday, as a precaution due to the rise in COVID-19 cases and a change in CDC guidelines for contact tracing.

All city employees will still report to work and be available by phone and email to assist the public. Public meetings will be held electronically with information on how to view the meetings posted on the city’s website and social media. All departments will be open.

City buildings include City Hall, Rolland Lewis Community Building, Public Works, Mt. Vernon Municipal West, three fire stations and one police station.
