SPRINGFIELD – Officials with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Thursday reported 4,015 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, the highest single-day total in the state since the beginning of the pandemic. IDPH also reported 53 additional confirmed deaths.
Officials said molecular and antigen tests were included in Thursday’s total. Antigen tests weren’t previously included due to limited test amounts and limited information regarding accuracy.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 331,620 cases, including 9,127 deaths statewide.

- Franklin County: 60
- Jefferson County: 25
- Williamson County: 24
- Jackson County: 21, one death
- White County: 16
- Union County: 15
- Johnson County: 12
- Perry County: seven
- Saline County: five
- Alexander, Gallatin, Hamilton, Massac and Pulaski counties: two each
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate regarding total tests from Oct. 9-15 is 4.9 percent.
