PADUCAH, KY – A second Cairo man was charged in connection to a fatal shooting in Paducah in August that left a Mounds man dead and several others injured.
According to a release from the Paducah Police Department, 24-year-old Jermaine Harris was arrested late Friday on charges of murder, four counts of first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a felon and three counts of first-degree criminal mischief following a six week investigation into the August 8th shooting.
The release stated the investigation focused on an ongoing violent feud between two groups, one from Cairo and one from Mounds. Members of the groups were celebrating Emancipation Day in Paducah when they saw one another, multiple shots were fired following an argument, and 32-year-old Keyshawn Childress of Mounds was killed with three others injured.
Harris was identified as one of the shooters and taken into custody outside of a business in Carbondale Friday, marking the second arrest in the case after 31-year-old Christopher Howard of Cairo was arrested in Missouri last week.
The investigation is ongoing and Paducah Police said additional arrests are forthcoming. Anyone with information is asked to call the Paducah Police Department at 270-444-8550.
