SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Tuesday announced 1,076 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 30 additional confirmed deaths.
Local case breakdown:
- Jackson County: 16
- Williamson Count: five
- Union County: two
- Franklin, Johnson, Massac and Pulaski counties: one each
- All cases are in isolation
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 173,731 cases, including 7,446 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 28,331 specimens for a total of 2,570,465. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from July 21-27 is 3.8 percent.
New York, New Jersey and Conneticut added Illinois their “quarantine lists” due to a rise in cases, as travelers from Illinois to those states will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days.
