Benton Man Injured in Crash Involving Two Semis

BENTON – A Benton man was injured in a three-vehicle crash on I-57 in Jefferson County Thursday afternoon.

Illinois State Police (ISP) said in a release around 12:25 p.m., 22-year-old Noah W. Shaw of Benton was driving his car north on I-57 at milepost 88 as a semi driven by 54-year-old Alberto Restrepo-Sierra of Miami, FL was in the left lane and another semi driven by 58-year-old Ivan Eufracio of Houston, TX was in the right lane next to Restrepo-Sierra. Shaw was directly behind Eufracio.

Shaw tried to drive between the two semis and struck the trailer of Restrepo-Sierra was pulling and lost control. Shaw then struck the trailer Eufracio was pulling and became stuck underneath.

Shaw was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The semi drivers refused medical attention.

ISP said charges are pending.
