Six Injured After I-64 Crash in White County Saturday

WHITE CO. – Six people were injured in a one-vehicle crash on I-64 in White County early Saturday morning.

According to Illinois State Police, the driver, 28-year-old Alberto Ruiz of Henderson, Kentucky, was driving a box truck east on I-64 at milepost 128 when he left the roadway and struck a guardrail in the median of the interstate around 2:40 a.m.

Ruiz and five of his passengers – two from Henderson and three from Evansville, Indiana – were all taken to a local hospital with injuries.

Ruiz was cited for driving while license suspended, no insurance, illegal transportation of open alcohol, improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driver required to wear seat belt. His passengers all received seat belt citations.
