Illinois Total COVID-19 Cases Crosses 150K Thursday

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Thursday announced 1,018 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 20 additional confirmed deaths.

Locally, five cases were reported in Williamson County Thursday. Four new positive cases each were reported Thursday in Saline and Union counties. Three cases each were reported in Jackson, Franklin, Jefferson and Johnson counties. Gallatin and Pulaski counties both reported one case.

Two of the four Saline County cases were hospitalized. All other cases are in isolation.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 150,450 cases, including 7,119 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 36,180 specimens for a total of 1,878,756. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from July 2-8 is 2.6 percent.
