Carbondale Man Facing Gun Charges After Shooting at Occupied Vehicle

CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man will face gun charges after Carbondale Police responded to the 700 block of North Giant City Rd. about multiple reports of shots fired just past 10:30 Friday night.

According to a Carbondale Police press release, officers learned the suspect fired several shots at individuals believed to be in a vehicle that fled from the area. Officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle, which fled after the incident, in the 1100 block of E. Walnut St. Officers located the other vehicle unoccupied in the 900 block of E. College St.

During an investigation, officers arrested 21-year-old Aarion P. Haskins of Carbondale for aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon and no firearm owner’s identification card while possessing a firearm. Haskins was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident. A window for a business in the area was damaged. Information received indicates the incident appears to have occurred following a dispute amongst acquaintances.
