Lowest One-Day Increase in COVID-19 Cases Reported Since April 2

SPRINGFIELD – Illinois reported Sunday its lowest one-day increase in new COVID-19 cases in more than two months.

The Illinois Department of Public Health’s daily numbers report for Sunday confirmed 867 new coronavirus cases and 43 additional deaths in the previous 24 hours, marking the lowest one-day increase since the state reported 715 new cases on April 2.

Overall, the state is now up to 127,757 positive cases and 5,904 COVID-19 related deaths.

A total of 20,700 tests were processed the previous day, giving the state a one-day positivity rate of 4.19%. The state is now up to a total of 1,042,774 tests processed with an overall flat positivity rate of 12.25%.

On Sunday, the 7-day rolling positivity rate was down to 5% for the time period of May 31 to June 6.
