Old Shawneetown Man Sentenced for Aggravated Battery Charge

WHITE CO. – An Old Shawneetown man was sentenced Monday to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) for aggravated battery (victim 60 years or older), a Class 3 felony, following a contested sentenced hearing.

White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud said 28-year-old Zachery J. Holloway will also serve one year of mandatory supervised release following release from prison.

In December, Holloway struck his grandfather, who was over the age of 60, in the face. Holloway was on parole at the time and was taken back to IDOC back in March after entering a plea of guilty to the offense of aggravated battery. IDOC released him in April. He was then arrested in May for home invasion and other offenses in Gallatin County. Those cases are still pending, and he is being held in the Saline County Jail. Therefore, he is presumed innocent of those charges until found guilty in a court of law.

Holloway’s case was investigated by White County Sheriff’s Department.
