CHICAGO – Health officials alongside Gov. J.B. Pritzker during a daily COVID-19 briefing Monday reported 1,980 new cases of Coronavirus and an additional 50 deaths, raising Illinois’ totals to 45,883 and 1,983 respectively.
The governor said he plans to appeal a judge’s ruling in favor of G.O.P. State Representative Darren Bailey, who sued the state and claimed Pritzker didn’t have the authority to extend his stay-at-home order.
The ruling only favors Bailey, who now has a temporary restraining order and is exempt from the order.
