Carbondale Police Investigating Two Reports of Shots Fired

CARBONDALE – Carbondale Police are investigating two reports of shots fired that happened Monday in Carbondale.

According to a Carbondale Police report, officers responded to the 600 block of W. Cherry St. around 10:45 a.m. and learned shots were allegedly fired by a black man wearing a light-colored hoodie with black pants. He was last seen running south on S. Rawlings St. The man was seen with another black man wearing a navy blue hoodie with dark colored pants who ran east on W. Cherry St. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Then around 5:40 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of S. Poplar St. and learned shots were allegedly fired by someone inside a moving blue vehicles traveling north on Poplar St. towards a passing gray 2002 Ford Mustang. Officers found the Mustang and learned no one was injured as a result of the incident.

There is not any suspect information to provide at this time. Police said it’s currently unknown if the two incidents are related.
