One Injured in Pickup Truck-Motorcycle Crash in Makanda

MAKANDA – One person was injured in a crash involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle at the intersection of Cedar Creek Rd. and Old U.S. 51 in Makanda around 4:45 Monday afternoon.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, 65-year-old Sally Ellis of Carbondale was driving her pickup east on Cedar Creek Rd. when she entered the intersection of Old U.S. 51 and into the path of southbound motorcycle driven by 28-year-old Alexander Loveless of Taylorville.

Loveless sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Ellis was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Jackson County Ambulance Service, Makanda Township Fire Department and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
