IHSA Leaders Hopeful for Spring Sports Season, Even Shortened

BLOOMINGTON – Schools are closed through the end of April in Illinois, but IHSA leaders are hopeful a spring sports season will still happen, even a shortened campaign.

IHSA Assistant Executive Director Matt Troha said the board of directors has already given the unofficial green light to let spring sports go later into June if needed.

Troha added the association wants to keep hope, especially for seniors who wouldn’t get a senior season if spring sports were to be cancelled, but the IHSA also recognizes completely cancelling spring sports may have to happen for the health and safety of all involved.
