MT. VERNON – A Mt. Vernon man was taken into custody on multiple charges, including aggravated battery of a police officer, after Mt. Vernon Police Department (MVPD) officers responded to a domestic dispute Sunday afternoon.
When officers arrived to the incident in the 900 block of S. 6th St., police found 23-year-old Wristen Hout arguing with a female in the front yard of the home. When Hout noticed officers, he ran into the house and out the back door.
Officers pursued Hout on foot, and during the pursuit, he shoved an officer in an effort to flee police. After MVPD officers captured Hout, he continued resisting arrest, kicking at officers while being placed in the squad car.
Hout was taken to a local hospital to be cleared before going to the Jefferson County Justice Center on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, domestic battery, resisting/obstructing an officer, and on a DOC parole violation warrant.
The officers involved did not require medical treatment.
