CARBONDALE – Southern Illinois University is extending their spring break and moving classes online as a response to the coronavirus pandemic.

In an email from the university, they announced spring break will be extended through March 22 and then classes will be offered online or in other alternative formats on March 23 until further notice.

In the message, President John Dunn stated, “While no cases of COVID-19 have been identified on our campus, our primary concern is the health and safety of our community. We are joining other Illinois public institutions in taking precautionary measures, recommendations from state and national health agencies and adjust course as needed.”

The university will update students on services such as housing and dining within the next few days. Those with questions are asked to email pandemicinfo@siu.edu.
