Carbondale City Council Approves Marijuana Business’ Purchase of Vacant Main St. Lot

CARBONDALE – The Carbondale City Council last night unanimously approved plans to sell a vacant city lot to a business planning to grow and sell marijuana.

C6 Farms will pay the city $450,000 to set up shop at the lot on 800 E. Main St., the site of a former hotel demolished by the city in 2014. A completion date for the project is currently unknown, and the company needs a conditional grow license from the state.

C6 said once it the business is fully functional, they plan on bringing nearly 40 new jobs to the Carbondale area.
