Air Evac Expresses Concern for Potential Federal Insurance Bill

MARION – Leaders in the air ambulance industry have expressed concern about possible legislation in Washington. Potential bills deal with “surprise insurance denial,” and one official said the bills would give insurance companies no reason to negotiate fair rates with air ambulance services, and stick the patient with the bill.

Joe Grygiel, Vice President of Base Operations for Air Evac EMS, which operates air bases across central and southern Illinois, said in rural parts of the state, air ambulance services can be especially vital in life and death situations.
