Murphysboro Man Recovering After Early Thurs. Crash in Jackson County

GORHAM – A Murphysboro man is recovering from a single-vehicle crash where his vehicle was submerged in water on Neunert Rd. just outside of Gorham early Thursday morning.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived around 4:45 a.m. to find a Jeep Wrangler on its top submerged in water. The driver, 28-year-old Benjamin Vogel, was unresponsive and trapped within the driver’s compartment.

Deputies and first responders were able to retrieve Vogel from the Jeep, and he was taken to a St. Louis area hospital for his injuries.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Jackson County Ambulance Service, plus the Gorham and Ava fire departments.
