MT. VERNON – Two traffic incidents stalled traffic on local interstates Thursday.
Thursday morning, Jefferson Fire Protection District (JPFD) responded to a tractor trailer that overturned and blocked the westbound lanes of I-64 at mile marker 89 near Opdyke. The interstate closed for a few hours and westbound traffic was diverted off at the Belle Rive exit.
Thursday afternoon, as traffic was congested due to construction near Ina, JFPD responded to a call of a pickup truck on fire near mile marker 88 on southbound I-57 just south of Mt. Vernon. Fire personnel said the truck, an attached trailer, and nearby grass all caught on fire from the incident.
There were no reports of injuries from either incident.
