Carmi Man Hospitalized After Motorcycle Crash with Deer

ELDORADO – A Carmi man was in a crash involving his motorcycle and a deer early Wednesday morning in Saline County.

According to Illinois State Police, 40-year-old John McKay was traveling north on US 45, a quarter mile north of Eldorado, when a deer entered the roadway around 12:40 a.m. McKay was unable to avoid striking the deer, as his motorcycle overturned and he was ejected. McKay was then transported to a local hospital, then flown by Air Evac to an Evansville, Indiana hospital. He was not wearing a helmet during the accident. 

District 19 Troopers were assisted by the Eldorado Police Department.
