Sleater-Kinney Unleash Rage on New Track “Animal” Ahead of Tour

Following a summer comeback release, The Center Won’t Hold, Sleater-Kinney have released a new single, “Animal,” ahead of their tour in support of the recent album.

The single is about “rebellion, retaliation and rage” according to a statement from the band. It’s the first non-album work without drummer Janet Weiss, who left Sleater-Kinney in July after spending 24 years with the band.

“It is a song about letting go of all politeness and filters and letting the ‘animal’ side speak,” the statement reads. “The vocals for this song were recorded in St. Vincent’s home studio, a perfect place to unleash a voice like this.”

Upcoming nearby stops:

10/18-19 – Riviera Theater – Chicago, IL

10/20 – Old Forester’s Paristown Hall – Louisville, KY

10/21 – Ryman Auditorium – Nashville, TN
