If you thought The All-American Rejects wouldn’t bring energy to the Du Quoin State Fair, you were wrong. As though they haven’t missed a step in their 20-year career, the band brought just that alongside a birthday wish, an Instagram video, animated dancing and their biggest songs Saturday night at the grandstand.
Beyond classics like “Move Along,” “Swing, Swing,” and an encore of “Gives You Hell,” the Rejects featured the title track from their latest EP, Send Her to Heaven. Frontman Tyson Ritter didn’t stop there, as among his onstage antics he filmed the audience singing along to “Jesus Love Me,” which posted to Instagram for AMC’s Preacher, of which he stars as Jesus.

Hey There, @tysonritter here taking over this account today. I play Jesus Christ and Humperdoo and in honor of tonight’s episode (10/9c on @amc_tv ) I thought we’d kick things off right with a lovely Gospel. I’d like to thank the people of DuQuoin,IL for their voices. Remember, Jesus Loves you. #preacher #donaldtrump
Prior to the performance, members of the Southern Illinois’ 2019 Colt World Series championship team were honored onstage. Singer Brynn Elliot opened for the band, featuring her radio single “Might Not Like Me.”
