The West Franklin Historical District and Silkwood Inn Museum will be hosting there 7th Annual Fall Craft / Vendor Fair on Saturday, September 28, 2019. Registration forms must be received no later than Saturday, September 21, 2019. Booth spaces will be reserved based on receipt of registration forms, i.e. first come first served. Once all booth spaces are reserved, registrations will be closed. (Please take note that registration could possibly be closed prior to the deadline if all booth spaces are reserved.)
All spaces are approximately 100 square feet and are taped off to reflect spacing. One 8’ table & 2 chairs will be placed at each space. Participants can bring additional tables; however, you must stay in the space provided. Each booth space is a $30.00 donation, if additional spacing is needed; please make sure you complete the registration form reflecting your needed space. (All donations go towards the upkeep, maintenance, and repairs for the West Franklin Historical District and Silkwood Inn Museum.)
We are seeking vendors and crafters who create handmade items, repurpose/refurbish old items, and sell product items. Items that are handmade, antique, repurposed/refurbished, furniture, primitive, jewelry, machined and product items are all accepted.
For marketing purposes we are asking that each vendor send us a picture of your wares prior to the event. Pictures can be emailed to email@example.com or sent via Facebook Messenger to our West Franklin Historical District and Silkwood Inn page.
Participants are welcome to set up on the Friday evening prior to the event. A member from the District will be at the facility from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27th, for those who wish to set up their wares. Please let us know when registering if you are going to set up early.
Breakfast of biscuits, gravy, sausage, coffee, milk, or juice will be available from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. Cost is a $6.00 donation. Lunch / concessions of chili, chili dog, hot dog, nachos, chips and drinks will be available from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. (Prices depend on purchase.)
The annual Carterville Chamber’s Twilight Glow 5k Run and Poker Walk is Friday, September 6th at Cannon Park in Carterville.
The Fun Run begins at 6pm.
The Twilight 5k begins at 7pm.
$250 Prize PLUS round trip Cape Air tickets to St. Louis, MO for the FASTEST male and female runner.

The West Franklin Historical District and Silkwood Inn Museum is having their third Saturday meal, which is a Meatloaf Supper, on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Supper includes meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll, drink, and dessert, all for an $8.00 donation. (Children 12 and under $3.50) Dine in our carry out. Meal is all you can eat. All donations go toward the upkeep, maintenance, and utilities of the Historical District & Inn Museum.
The Williamson County Illinois Retired Teachers Association will host its summer quarterly meeting at St. Paul’s Church Family Life Center in Johnston City, IL at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 12th.
The meeting will be the annual “pie meeting” where homemade pies will be served. Williamson County Deputy Sheriff Brian Murrah will present information on services provided by the sheriff’s department and discuss newly enacted laws in Illinois.
All retired teachers and administrators are invited to attend. For more information phone 942-6938.
The Epilepsy Walk 2019 is on Sunday, August 11th and will begin at 3:30 P.M. The Walk will end at home plate of the Southern Illinois Miners Baseball Field and all walk participants will be provided with a ticket to stay and watch the Miners ballgame following the Walk along with a Perfect Game Voucher and a walk T-shirt. We are expecting approximately 200 guest and we hope that you will be one. Our goal is to raise $5,000 with our fundraising efforts.
Despite the Illinois budget impasse and with strategic epilepsy program reorganization, we have been able to continue to provide essential epilepsy services. Like all Illinois social service agencies the Epilepsy Foundation of Southern Illinois has received significant cuts to our funding and yet we have remained steadfast in our efforts to support the epilepsy community. Our programs continue to foster the wellbeing of children, adults and their families affected by seizures through research programs, educational activities, advocacy, and direct services.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Southern Illinois is very active in the communities in which we serve and we plan to continue to reach more residents in our communities.
